A new market rich in potential has opened up for European hemp, with the SSUCHY research project and Linificio’s visionary commitment.

SSUCHY is a large-scale European program that connects companies, institutions, and universities with the ambitious goal of using natural fibres and biopolymers to develop fully bio-based composite materials with differentiating technical features.

Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale is one of the 17 partners, and has made available, in addition to its know-how, the tools to create a prototype of composite materials for technical textiles that does not yet exist in the sector.

It is a substrate in hemp fabric of European origin, which combined with a polymer, enables the creation of shaped materials of complex forms with different weights and characteristics. A new, sustainable and high-performance solution to the requirements of sectors such as automotive, aeronautics and audio systems.

To achieve this goal, Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale’s R&D division has studied, developed and industrialized an innovative production process with eco-sustainable chemical treatments.

Sustainable for the environment, attentive to the land: for this new project the company has developed a European supply chain for fibre (grown in France and Italy) and also for yarn and/or fabric.
